How we work together

New patients see a dentist first for a comprehensive consultation, then move to a hygiene and treatment plan shared between dentist and oral health therapist. Complex cases draw on the team's combined training, and we refer to and work alongside sleep physicians, ENT specialists, allergists, periodontists, orthodontists and integrative medical practitioners across Sydney.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose which dentist I see?

Yes. Tell reception your preference when you book. If you are unsure, describe your concern and we will match you to the practitioner whose interests fit best.

Are all SHDC clinicians registered?

Yes. Every dentist and oral health therapist at SHDC is registered with the Dental Board of Australia through AHPRA, with mandatory continuing professional development each year.

What is the difference between a dentist and an oral health therapist?

Dentists diagnose and provide the full range of treatment. Oral health therapists are university-trained clinicians who provide preventive care, hygiene, periodontal therapy and, within their scope, examinations, fillings and children's dentistry, working alongside the dentists.

Do the dentists have particular specialities?

They are general dentists with postgraduate training in specific areas: endodontics and aesthetics (Dr Wilson), TMJ, sleep and children's jaw development (Dr Teoh), implants and evidence-based care (Dr Lewis Ehrlich), and biocompatible rehabilitation and sleep appliances (Dr Joshua Ehrlich). Specialist referral is arranged where a case needs it.

Do you treat children?

Yes. Our oral health therapists hold qualifications in children's dentistry and see children from their first teeth, supported by the dentists for orthodontics and jaw development.
